Thank You from the
Bottom of Our Feet

A huge THANK YOU to the First United Methodist Church of Salem, Virginia, and to Miss Joan Dorsey of the Ecumenical Society for providing shoe vouchers to Roanoke refugee children. In 2009 the RIS Roanoke office has been resettling many children from Bhutan, Iraq, Myanmar, and Cuba. Aware of the need for shoes for these kids for school and in preparation for cold weather, the First United Methodist Church of Salem provided shoe vouchers for 37 children. These vouchers will be used at a local Kmart to purchase shoes for children ages 7 months to 17 years. Thank you to the church and to Miss Dorsey for their concern for these newest members of the Roanoke Valley!
